Tanner Stages for Boys -
Male Penis Tanner Stages – The transformation of the male anatomy takes place just as a boy enters into adolescence and starts stepping into puberty. As a young boy enters into adulthood there are various changes in terms of height, weight, bone mass and the entire body composition. However, one important growth is that of the male reproductive organ, the penis and scrotum too.
In recent times, more and more men are becoming aware of having the perfect shape and size of their genital organ in order to be called perfectly masculine. Thus, there is an increased number of men who are not happy with the size and width of their penis in adulthood.
However, most men do not get to evaluate their penis size as they get to see other men’s organs only in magazines or movies, which are more often than not, not what an average man has. Even common locker rooms give little opportunity for men to see other men in erectile form. Since the male reproductive organ too has many different shapes and sizes including curvatures depending on individual to individual, it is important to know what the proper development of the penis is.
Now, it is important to understand that there are different stages to the onset of puberty in different individuals. Thus, scientists and sexologists have set up a distinct platform to judge puberty in adolescents. Thus, rating is done on the basis of penile growth and growth of pubic hair.
There are four Tanner stages of development of penis.
Stage I: Preadolescent stage.
During this stage the testes, scrotal sac and penis remain similar to that of childhood. This stage is said to remain until age 11.
Stage II: Adolescence
During this stage, the scrotum grows considerably with the testes changing its texture. The scrotum becomes red in color and shows thinning. This happens at age 12. After six months there is a more muscular shape derived by the body due to presence of testosterone.
Stage III: Puberty
At age 13 or so, there is an increase in the penis and the scrotum. The growth continues till age 16 or so. The testes and scrotum grow too and the skin of the scrotum darkens.
An average male has frequent erections even without external stimulation. Most common are nocturnal emissions or wet dreams during erections, which can continue throughout life for most men.
Stage IV: Adulthood
During this final growth period the penis and the scrotum are fully developed.
What regulates the size of the penis in men?
Testosterone is a hormone, which is responsible for regulation of the penis size in men. It also controls the growth of facial and body hair development of muscles but it has no effect on the size of the testes.
The perfect size of male reproductive organ
Reportedly, the average penile length is 8.2 to 9.7cm and the girth or thickness is 1.6 to 2.7cm during the flaccid state. During erection, the average length has been reportedly around 14 to 16.5 cm.Despite these estimates, it is important to remember that penis size varies from person to person depending on overall body weight.
Many corrective measures like traction devices are helpful in order to cure male sexual; disorders like impotency, erectile dysfunction etc.
